Hi all,
It looks like the Laconia Health Club has closed down (at least for the time being). My wife liked the Zumba classes and I liked the fitness equipment.
Suggestions for local alternatives would be welcome; I am not sure where the instructors or patrons are going (as an alternative).

For fitness equipment you can't beat Planet Fitness, $10/month which includes instruction. My wife and I have been going to the Belmont PF every other morning for several years.

I agree with slick...you can beat the price or facility. We joined a little over a year ago and have made good use of our membership!

Another vote for the Belmont Planet Fitness. It is well equipped with up to date machines and it is very clean there. All in all it is a very well run PF and you just can't beat the price.
PF...
Yeah but, I can't let out a loud "ummph!" when I bench press 30#.

Jetskier, PF is good and price is great. But if your wife likes classes they don't really offer those like Zumba and such. You could always try Fitness Edge in Meredith. I hope that Laconia Swim is able to get the help they need as that is the only place in winter that offers Swim lessons for adults and children.

Pemi Baker Community Health located a-top the hill in Plymouth, NH, at the Boulder Point medical campus, and close to Wal-Mart, is a physical therapy, medical facility which has a pool with 90-degree warm water.
Google "Pemi Baker Community Health Aquatic."
It has a number of different in-the-water pool exercise classes for adults, plus swimming lessons for young children on Saturday morning, or something.
The adult class size is limited to 12-participants. We need to get some good look'n women with rock'n good bodies who don't mind showing some skin. You know; if you got it, then here's a 90-degree pool to stay fit and get a serious good one hour work-out with five big windows to watch the early morning, big sky, sun rise ....... loud background music.....abs-glutes-delts ...... a happening good tough instructor 'Liz' ...... and low chlorine in the pool thanks to the ultra-violet water sanitizer. This is a very high quality facility ..... constructed about five years ago ...... a quality, well maintained, and well run aquatic exercise pool facility.
To take a trial run, just show up at 6 or 7-am with a towel, a bathing suit, and the ten dollar drop-in price.
Mon-Wed-Fri; 6-7am: new exercise participants welcome
Mon-Wed-Fri; 7-8am: new exercise participants welcome
Mon-Tues-Wed-Thurs-Fri; 9-10am; class is full
Afternoon classes; check schedule
Adult pool exercise classes limited to 12-participants
Prices; $10/drop-in or $55/month

Quite a difference from $10/month PF and even with that price, has no pool. It would be nice to have a PF on the northern side of the lake and even better if there was something with a pool. The Laconia Health Club seemed like a nice place. Too bad it is having trouble.

I think Fitness Edge has some deal with Margate to use their pool.

Although I'm a planet fitness guy myself because I can't justify spending 50$ a month to go anywhere else from all the PFs I've been in the one up here is not my favorite. Too many people and its too dirty for me, come January you get a good workout in and bring home the flu:rolleye1:

That's the new "immune system workout" or "ISW Training."

Hi all,
Several of the fitness/aerobic instructors have opened their own studios:

http://www.awakeningfit.com/
It does not appear that the Laconia Athletic & Swim Club will be reopening any time soon. My guess is that it will be going through bankruptcy proceedings.
