Heating season is upon us once again and I just got my first bill from Dead River. Price was $2.49 per gallon. Just checking what the going rate is looking like for this Winter

We live an area where we were fortunate enough to enter into a consortium. I'm embarrassed to say that we locked into a rate of $1.42 per gallon.

We just got our propane delivery from Eastern Propane. We belong to Our Town Energy, and our price was $2.38 per gallon.

Suissevale has negotiated a fixed price of $1.599 per gal. The fixed price is for up to 140,000 gal of fuel delivered to Suissevale. Per gallon price is effective for the 2015 - 2016 winter season.

Through OTEA and Eastern it is $1.88/gallon with "Prompt Pay", $1.98 otherwise.

It also depends upon your usage:

Even though we have propane fueled Hot Water, Dryer, and Stove, we don't top out over 150 gallons per year. Still, before joining OTEA, we were paying over $4.50 per gallon. Joined OTEA, and it was cut almost in half. Also have Eastern for our heat, Kero, and it is lower. We pay rack plus, getting only one delivery per year, usually. Now, if OTEA could strike a deal with my wood guy ;) .

Ooops...misspoke.......$1.10 was rack price plus with no contract so we chose $1.28 on annual contract.

I paid $1.23 for propane on October 5.

Also, last year I put in a 3 head Mitsubishi heat/AC unit that has cut the heating cost by 2/3 so the gas useage is way down.

We have a Hearthstone wood stove in our living room. We go through 5-6 cords of wood per heating season. We use the oil as a back up, and when the wind is blowing, especially out of the W-NW, it can blow right into our crawl space. When that happens, we kick up the oil heat a little to keep the crawl space between 32-40.
