Hi! Because the carpet on our first pontoon never seemed to dry and, as a result, we started getting mold, we ordered vinyl on our new one.

The issue: our mini schnauzer doesn't like vinyl floors, so we'll need an area carpet--just a runner up the middle to let her get up on the seats to see what's going on. Can I just pick up/have made an outdoor runner, or should I be looking at marine carpet? Any suggestions and/or business recommendations welcome!

I have the same issue with my Newfy wont get on the boat without a runner. I went to Home depot. they have a roll of runner with rubber bottom, so it grips good. I don't know how it will last but its so cheap and easy to roll up I don't care. I have the teak vinyl. Love it, It's so easy to clean and stays cool. The optional removable carpet may be worth the extra $.

Just an update: Ocean State Job Lot has rubber-backed runners for $15. Gonna try one out on our new pontoon.

Wouldn't use regular carpet.. Will end up with mold, if going carpet route I would spring for marine grade (still get mold, just not as fast)

Since the boat's in sun much of the time, the cover airs out nice, and the carpeting is real thin, I'm thinking it'll be OK.
