Fiddlehead Farms Marketplace in Alton has closed it's doors. Paul and I are very sad to see them go. :(
From their website:
Our store at 77 Main Street in Alton NH is now closed permanently.
We thank the Alton community for its patronage over the past 5 years.

Here is a link to an article in the Baysider: Scott Williams, former fire chief and developer, has closed on the property.

Sad to see them go, they had great pricing on some produce and Lobsters.

I had no clue they were gone. I am at the "other end" of Alton and usually included them in my "dump run". Very sorry to see this happen. They were super and had so much good local produce and things that the big chains did not seem to have. After reading the article I find it hard to imagine a new sub shop in their place! Just what we all need. I won't be going there. I went out of my way for Fiddlehead Farms but won't for a sub. Such a shame! Glad I read this post.

Great place! Sorry to see it go. Very friendly and personable staff. In particular the guy in the seafood counter (I think his name was John)

No need to disparage a new business just because you don't think you will patronize it.

A local contractor, Scott Williams, has purchased the property, and is trying to improve the center of our town. He has put in the laundramat behind the post office that is maintained very well, is clean, and is relatively inexpensive. Can't wait to see how it all plays out.

Dollar General is dropping stores everywhere else in NH and Maine...Although when they tried Wakefield they were practically run out of town.
