I just added to my Firematic Collection, from a reputable seller, a former Laconia SAFA alarm street box.

Any Former/Retired Laconia Firefighters on here that could tell me what the location of Box 123 was?

Thanks,

Bill

Wow, a unique neat question! As a retired LR dispatcher from the 80's-90's , the coding is the following:

If it starts with a 1, its a master box

The first non one, indicates the location in town: 2 is downtown, 3 is Lakeport and 4 is the Weirs

The remaining (usual 2, rarely 3) digits indicate the box in that location of town.

With that said, it would be downtown master box 3, but I know of no such box, it might predate 1980.
With a leading 1, it would not be a street box (only).

Thank you for taking the time to respond and the information.

Not enough lights in the house to get good inner box pics. I will add them tomorrow.

My intent was to purchase a used Utility pole, paint the red white stripe on the pole and mount the box to the pole. Then add purchased street signs of the street and cross street, mount them, and place the whole rig in my "Man Cave".

Do you know who might have a historic list of box numbers and locations. Nothing on Google.

Very nice shape and neat idea for your MC :)

I don't know of a list, but there are friends around that pre-date me (believe it or not), I'll poke around.

Post those interior pictures. It will be easy to tell if it is a master box or street box. Also, count the cogs on code wheel to see if the code wheel matches the 123 on the front.

Sometimes city/town annual reports have a listing of fire alarm boxes by number. Maybe the library has a collection of past annual reports and you could research them .

Thank you all for your input.

Appears as though it is a Master Box.

Attached are the additional pictures I promised.

Great pictures. I can't tell if it a master box or not. It would need an auxiliary trip to be a master box. Nice find. Curious how much they go for.
