Can anyone reccomend a good boat mechanic in the Gilford/Laconia/Alton area? Needs to be a yard on the water. We have a Sea Ray 280SS. Please feel free to PM me on this. Thanks!

What about Irwin Marine on Paugus Bay in Laconia?? Aren't they the local Searay dealer also??

Thought that was an obvious one too iShoot !!

fltsimguy - if it's engine related work just about EVERY Marina is certified on Mercruiser / Penta's ....... and this would include doing engine Warranty work

A key piece of missing info: Where are you? I like Irwin Marine for my Sea Ray, but if you're in Wolfeboro or Green's Basin, Irwin may not be convenient.

MerCruiser's are easy to work on I agree and most can do it, but just trying to find someone who is quality and can be trusted. We know the Irwin guys, but trying to find an independent mechanic.

Flsimguy....

I've used a Winnie Forum member as a boat mechanic in the past, he's been very reliable, reasonably priced, and knows his stuff ! He's an independant mechanic.
He will come to your boat location, either in water or on trailer.

His Forum name is: jst_4_kiks
Not sure if he's been active lately on Forum, but worth a try.
I will send you a PM with the last contact email and Cell# I have for him.

If you can't get him, I'd give Dave's MB Shop in Gilford a call, I'll vouch for him also, and have used in the past. He has vast knowledge or Mercruisers and provides good service.

Good luck!

That'd be Kyle--the one I was going to suggest that you use. Definitely knows his stuff and his prices are very reasonable.

He is independent and will travel to your boat. Give him a call at 603.387.6077.

Two big thumbs up for Dave.

He's worked on our Cobalt, Baja, Whaler, Ski Nautique and Air Nautique. Great guy.

For what it's worth, Kyle recommended Dave to me for issues I was having with my antique outboard. For anything newer than 1970 I wouldn't hesitate to use Kyle, and even with older stuff it'd be a toss-up :coolsm:

A few good local mechanics have been mentioned here, myself included.

What needs to be done to the boat for service? Mentioned the area & boat you have. Doesnt matter to me where boat is located, I am mobile. Just last weekend I traveled to Wolfeboro to service some jetskis in the water at another members house. If you are islander its slight more difficult but still doable to access.

PM me with any questions you have. Thanks.

Nobody better mechanically, nobody easier to deal with on problems, The Ewings
Dave and the Mrs. over at Dave's Motorboat. Tom, who came from Castle Marine completes, and compliments all the work they do.
