Speaking only for myself, I've been having VERY good luck with Rainbow trout this year. The salmon have been bit tougher for me this year but they are out there!

Tell your son to come on up and enjoy the lake fishing. It doesn't get any better when your out there on the open water doing what you love watching the sun rise or set. For some reason, at least for me, it simply doesn't matter whether they are biting or not... But I bet they will be!;)
