Alton local resident Jim Varney is battling cancer, and a benefit dinner is being held at the Alton Masons' Lodge on Rte 28 this Saturday, the 27th, from 430 to 700 PM. No fixed price with donations being accepted at the door. There will also be raffles held. Here is the posting from this site's calendar section:
On December 27<SUP>th</SUP>, a benefit Ham and Bean dinner with all the fixings will be held for Jim Varney, an Alton resident who is fighting cancer. The dinner will be held at Winnipisaukee Lodge on Rte 28 in Alton, a quarter mile south of the Alton Circle from 4:30 to 7:00. Donations will be collected at the door, and raffles will also be held. All gross proceeds will go to benefit the Varney family, so we hope to see many family and friends, as well as those who wish to help out a neighbor in Alton. For more information, or if you have an item you wish to donate for the raffle, please contact Dick Quindley at 455-6212.
