Hi All

Does anyone know if there are smaller barges on the lake? I am located in the alton area and would like to get some stuff out to Sleepers.

Thanx

Perhaps Watermark Navigation in Gilford can help you I know they have smaller barges as well as the big ones. Phone # 293-4000

I know some barges come out of West Alton Marina. Soory, but I don't recall the name of the company. Maybe someone from WAM will post. Quick trip out to Sleepers.

I have seen a pontoon barge boat in the Rattlesnake area, I think that the sign said "African Queen Barge Service" or something like that. I have not found any links online to them or a phone# yet. You could also try Island Support (Steve Buzzotta) at 293-4357. He could do it. Island Services (Paul Boarders) has a fairly large barge depending on how much you need to move.

Dave Farley of Diversified Marine Construction has several barges of varying sizes. His # in Gilford is 293-4150.

You might find that some of the larger companies might not want to take on a small job this time of year, they seem to be concentrating on barging heavy equiment around and dock construction. Both Lakes Region and Diversified have been great to deal with, Lakes Region handled the moving of my kit to an island on short notice. They were very accomodating. Diversified is doing my dock and has been very helpful as well. It is getting to be crunch time for many contractors so whatever you need you might want to get your name in now. Good luck!
