Winnisquam drawdown

It's interesting seeing the Winnisquam shore line minus about 18' of water.

The waves sound different when they break and roll up a beach vs smashing into rocks and bouncing back out to the lake.

It's strange to see boulders near the surface that are normally 3 feet under the water; or large areas high and dry like down by the Black Brook inlet.

I need to take pictures now so if we rent it, I can show the nice sandy beach:D

I notice part of the sand bar is dry. You should see the Winnipesaukee River! I have never seen it so low!

Just noticed I messed up my units, It should be the lake is down 18" (inches). Not ' (feet). Guess it was a good thing I decided not to be a Pharmacist :rolleye2:

Good news!

When I saw that the lake was down 18 feet I was concerned that "urine central" the sand bar near Mosquito Bridge would be high and dry.

I saw 3 or 4 people out on the sand bar walking all around with one small boat pulled up onto the sand.:)

Yesterday there was someone sunning him/herself in a beach chair. Another person with a metal detector. Anyone lose a cell phone?

The lake is still down. I'm not sure if this link will work but is shows the real time graph of lake level. http://www2.des.state.nh.us/rti_home/station_information_display.asp?ID=LWINH&NAME=Winnisquam+Lake it works, just slow to load.

I have one picture that shows rocks near our place that should be under water. I'll try to post that later. I wish I had taken one of the sand bar. Winnisquam Marine's webcam is under construction but works on ipad and iPhones, but the new building blocks the sandbar:(:rolleye1:

The dogs, loved running on the beach, they told us to leave it this way.:D

It is interesting how the hydrology works. we have had some very choppy days since the water has dropped and you can see significant scouring in some areas. At normal lake level the water is about 6" (inches:) ) deep at the base of the rocks on shore. During high winds there is minimal change of the lake bed close to shore.
