This shot was taken at 2:45 PM this afternoon in West Alton. The air temperature at the shoreline was 49 degrees when this was taken, but it was about 6 - 7 degrees warmer in Gilford this afternoon, away from the lake. There is quite a bit of standing water on the ice today, a combination of some light rain yesterday and surface melting today. Not much sun today, but when it does come out it is quite warm.

I was there Thursday and there was a full size pick-up truck parked on the ice near Sleepers Island.(Not recommending on going out)

Ice still is very thick and hard but this sun and warm weather will knock it down quickly (I hope)
Ice out on April 17th

I was there Saturday. Beautiful day. But I think we should be kind to my Dad. Ice out has to be on April 9th. It is his birthday, and ice out has never ever happened on this date. So let's all go push that burg so Dad can have a new type of birthday present. :0 :0

We were at Weirs yesterday and saw a foot of ice near the docks. there were 4 snowmobiles riding around governors island. needless to say, it was pretty depressing.

But it's nice to see that picture. it's a better view of the lake than we had!!!

Ice Out: three weeks tops!!

No ice out til at least last week in April. Sunday there was 18" of black solid ice on Saunders bay in Gilford. And it isn't melting very fast. The surface was dry both Sat & sun. We tried to snowmobile, but it was too dry and no lube. I haven't ssen it this hard, this late in 20 years.
