Fished on Kingswood Lake today...

We went up to Kingswood lake in Brookfield today to our friends' camp. After kayaking around the lake, I decided to go fishing with my fly rod. After 45 minutes of fishing, I hooked into this bass. 17in long, and it took about 5 minutes to get him to the boat. 4 or 5 good leaps along the way. He is back in the lake to live another day, and hopefully find his way back onto my fly rod. Woo Hoo, felt like a kid again. Ugly fly, weighted, but sure was effective. My friend has caught some bass on a similar type fly.

Where is Kingswood lake in relation to Winnipesaukee? If you don't mind explaining....I've never even heard of it......nice fish, by the way!!

Wood stacking party on Sunday. My son and four former / current wrestlers from his wrestling team came up and put away just under 5 cords in about 3 hours. They are animals!!! Great kids actually. And I did help. Kingswood lake is off rte 109 in Brookfield, between rt28 and rt16.

I always see this pond when I drive by on 109 and wonder how I'd get in there. Is there public access? There doesn't seem to be from what I can tell. Thanks for any information.

The dam is located on the eastern or northeastern end of the lake, or the farthest end as you head from Wolfeboro to Wakefield on rte 109. Not sure where that road is located at. We did see cars and pickups going by that end of the lake while we were out kayaking.

Not sure how much parking is available there. Sorry. we accessed by our friend's camp road.

I could be wrong now, but years ago you could access that lake from Rte 109. There is a long dirt road before you come to the houses where you can see the lake from the road. The houses are before the farm that sells vegetables and other things. I don't know how else to describe it.

The dam may be reached by taking Mead Dam Road (off of 109)....often there may be access at the dam site.

Thanks Tis I'll check it out. There must be some access ( at least for small boats and kayaks) despite the information McDude was able to find since I see there are trout in the lake. The state won't stock water bodies unless there is public access.

It seems that the landowners "bought" trout from the hatchery for a few years, but they didn't last. As they did the drawdown on the lake, the trout congregated near the outflow, and when they pulled the next board out, there went the trout down stream.

There may be a few trout left, but F&G are not actively stocking the lake. Also, the lake is only about 35 ft deep at its deepest, and is quite warm, even though it is spring fed.

There does not seem to be a public access area. If I remember the end by the dam, there is private property on either side of the dam. Also, the road is a very narrow dirt road, as in a path, so watch your step driving down in there.

You may be able to talk to a landowner, and see if you can launch a canoe or kayak, but I doubt that you could put in a small boat, other than a "cartop" boat.

It is a beautiful lake, surrounded about 2/3 private landowners and the rest is in a trust, with no roads into the trust area.

Sorry to sound so negative, but there just isn't a lot of public access area on this lake.

More great information. You certainly aren't being negative rather you have answered some nagging questions I've had about the lake for some time. Interesting comment on the trout situation, too!
