I don't know what to make of these structures, very strange. They appear to be large wooden affairs with dovetail joints at the corners and about 10 feet high. I also have found them off Weirs.

We have found very similar structures in the CT River that were built in the 1800's and 1900's that were used to direct log traffic as it came down the river.

In Bellows Falls for example these "cribs" as they were called would be used to divert one company's logs say, left to the railroad spur before the damn while some other company's logs were to go further downstream thus would be pushed right down to the damn. These structures were filled with massive stones as ballast. I have measured some of them in the river at 15-20 feet high.

Don't know if these are filled with any ballast but that question will be answered soon enough.

I would speculate they were in fact out on the ice at some point for some reason then sank later. Pictures and video would be nice from any diver before I get to dive them.

Remember with all of these images I post they were high resolution and that resolution does not always translate well into a post on the web. Use whatever method you choose to enalrge them. Def. worth doing so.
