Like many islanders we take our water from the lake. We don't drink or cook with the water, but we do bathe, wash the dishes, etc., with the water. Can anyone recommend a whole-house water purification system that would provide potable water capable of passing the state water analysis? Thanks.

Thanks to a plethora of other islander recommendations, we now have a fully potable water system on Pine... a submersible pump 150' out and 20' deep, with a 5 micron filter inside the house, followed by a UV sanitation system...

with the intake down that deep, we don't have the quantity of sediment and "schmutz" that we used to get in 10' of water closer to shore where there was more turbidity...

the best part? not hauling all those gallon jugs of water over!! and now the neighbors come fill up their jugs at our house :)

Lots of info in the other threads,

I think this system looks pretty good, but I have no direct experience with it:

They have models that can run from 12 VDC as well as 120 VAC. So these could run from a solar cell powered battery for an island camp, or 120 VAC if you have AC power on the island.
