Kids have TONS of bites from swimming this week...
Anyone else having problems? Suggested treatment / prevention?

Sorry that you're dealing with this. It's caused by a parasite and can be very uncomfortable. The kids seem to be the most affected because they are often wading in shallow water. Do a search here on "duck itch" to see some of the discussions from past seasons. Some suggestions that may help in the future:

- It does seem as if most years the peak complaints arrive around the last
week of June / first week of July.
- Applying sunscreen before swimming will help to keep the parasite from
getting to the skin.
- Don't air dry, towel off as soon as you get out of the water.

Benadryl, calomine lotion and other anti-itch treatments may help somewhat, it takes a week or more for the welts to subside in most cases. Again, sorry the kids are affected, we've been there and know it's not fun for anyone. :(
