Yamaha PWC and Tubing

Does anyone have a Yamaha PWC with its signature rooster tail stream of water out the back?

Have you had issues with that stream of water hitting the person tubing or skiing behind the jetski? I like that it makes the jetski a little easier to see as the stream stands out but wanted to know if the downside is that this water lands right on the tuber.

you should be able to quickly close that spout and re-open when done

All Yamaha Wave runners have that rooster tail. As you said it was done for safety reasons. It should not interfere with the tube as long as your tow rope is long enough.

Just tell whoever is tubing or skiing to think of it like a river ride at a water park where random strangers pay money to use a water cannon on you as you go by!

For the skier it should be a challenge to stay out of the stream and for a tuber it would likely be a welcome refresher during this hot week of weather.:cool:

I wouldn't hold it straight out for a long period of time, unless the riders have some information you would like to get out of them!:D

I've owned a Yamaha for many years. The rooster tail can get annoying, especially for a skier; the kids on the tube don't seem to mind it.
If you look under the back deck, there is a rubber tube that is attached / fitted over the nozzle that is easy to take off and put back on. I simply pull it off when tubing and re-attach when done.

A lot of people just cut them off. Having many Yamaha's over the years we always just left it. At tubing distance they never would hit the riders, and are quite fun to spray people with when you are near a dock :cheers:

I blocked mine off.

When I was docking or putting it on the trailer if the wind was blowing the right way you would get wet and it was annoying. Even at no-wake speeds if there is a tail wind you will get sprayed.

If you go riding in a group it is not fun to ride in the mist following a YAMAHA.

I actually put a small 1/4 turn ball valve in-line on mine.As was just mentioned,occasionally if the wind was blowing right I would get myself wet when I didn't want to.I can open and close it but I have yet to reopen it since I installed it.That little extra propulsion is not going to waste.:laugh:
