Just wondering if I am alone in my thinking here. Being on the water, and located on a shore that takes the brunt of prevailing winds, I may be more sensitive to this than most.
My family has often heard me say that, all other things being equal, I would much prefer a cloudy, calm day to a windy, sunny one, any day.
Today is a good example. For days now, the weather forecasters have been touting how wonderful the weather will be on Father's Day. All the forecasts I looked at showed winds in the 3-7 MPH range.
I now sit here watching my boat pounding in the waves, whitecaps on the water, and coffee blowing out of my cup if I try to have a morning sit at the dock.
I wish the forecasters would spend a bit more time getting the wind plans correct, though I know that if you go a few miles off the water, it's almost unnoticeable.

I have always preferred a calm, cloudy, warm (or hot) day. Great for tanning, swimming or boating (except sail boats).
On the lake, mixed cloudy and sunny, with just enough wind to keep the bugs away, that would be ideal for me.
Off grid, there is nothing like constant sun and wind !!
Ahhh, if we could only control the weather in our own little spaces. I wouldn't mind an occasional day of snow in August, or 80 degrees for a few days in Feb, for that matter

We feel stuck as we would like a nice jetski ride. It seems to be getting windier this afternoon. So we prepared a hole for a flag pole instead.
I definitely prefer no wind out here on the broads. Sun is nice, calm is better.

We took a nice boat ride today and the broads were VERY rough! Big waves! We had the big boat, I would not have gone in a small boat. The wind made it feel a little cool for my tastes too, kind of a fall feel to the day.

It all depends what side you're on. We are on the leeward side to the wind...so we love a breezy, choppy day because it means we aren't roasting to death.

Rough but fun! I know many boaters prefer calmer conditions, and some days, so do I. But it was fun! Had my daughter and future son in law aboard. We left Minge Cove about 11 and headed out around 8 to 10 mph towards Smith Cove just sight seeing. Riding the waves and taking spray in the face. We stopped for lunch in Smith Cove where it was quite calm and then headed back. The return trip was great as we over took the waves and surfed the bigger rollers going with the wind. We passed Little Mark, went to the end of the bay and then turned back to home port, Minge. All in all a great Father's day outing.

Nothing like hopping the waves on the Broads! Look Ma! No boneheads!

I love windy days... And especially windy nights... Sounds like the ocean if you're on the broads. No boats buzzing around. Can be a little cool with the cold water, but all in all it's just fine with me... Dead calm today and I could hear the damn motorcycles 3 miles across the lake on route 11.

Last Sunday, the waves were over three feet rolling past our dock on East Bear Island. Several boats ventured past. Sailboats were having a great time. Pontoon boats were taking the waves very well. We were glad that we did not have to make any trips to the mainland!!!

On Fathers Day we traveled from Gilford to Wolfeboro through the broads. The waves were exciting and the 23ft boat did a great job. Definitely got sprayed a few times but never stuffed the bow. Just adjusted the trim enough to cut through the waves instead of bounce around.

We would really like to go for a nice jetski ride. It is a tad bumpy out there right now. We have big white caps.
Just two hours of calm and I would be happy for now!!!

Be careful out there.............. Big rollers coming down the broads. There are a few hardy souls out and about, but not many.
