Hello! We are looking to renew our vows this summer sometime over the 2nd week of July. Looking for scenic outdoor suggestions in Wolfeboro, Tuftonboro, or Moultonboro where this could take place (we had wanted Cate Park, but it sounds like a production to get a permit, etc?). Also, anyone know of a justice of the peace in the area you would recommend? Thanks so much!

How many do you intend to have there?

We were married on the Latitude 43 Degrees that can take up to 10 people. You get your choice of where you want to be married on the lake depending on where you are picked up from. We decided on Tuftonborrow in front of all the Marriott Estates. It was a sunset wedding and wonderful. Renewing your vows could be just the same - a wonderful time.

I just checked the web site and they have decided to stop doing charters.

takes an act of Congress to establish the tiniest venue on town or city property. It got to the point I had to use private property. You would be amaze the number of private land owners available for such a venue.

We'll have right around 10 people - thanks for the suggestion! Did you use a JP you'd recommend?

Too bad (from their website):

"After eight years of offering private charters on Lake Winnipesaukee we have decided to step away from the charter business so that we can enjoy the lake with our family. We are no longer offering charters."

I clicked on the link and it said that they are no longer doing charters. : (

We renewed our vows at St. John's on the Lake chapel on Bear Island last summer. While not outdoors, it's a lovely place and you could certainly take photos outside before or after the ceremony.

How about the town beach in Moultonboro...it's on Long Island just over the bridge. Gorgeous sunset views from that location.

Wolfeboro town clerk, Pat Waterman, is a JP and probably could suggest a venue for you.

The Wolfeboro Inn (603-569-3016) has a gazebo with a view of the Lake; and, if the weather didn't turn out right, you could probably arrange to use some inside facilities at the Inn. I am sure their function manager could help you with questions. This is also a wonderful place to hold a reception after the ceremony.

Congratulations, a best wishes for many more years.

FYI, you can also renew by mail, you don't need to do it in person. It's a lot easier that way.

Renewing by mail doesn't seem very romantic. Sort of misses the point completely. Good luck with whatever you decide.

What is the "justice of the peace" for?

At our 25th, we actually found the priest that married us, and he was really pleased to officiate at the renewal, and we were able to use the church in which we were married. He said it was becoming a rarity to do renewal of vows for the 25th anniversaries, because so many marriages didn't make it that far. :rolleye1:

Congratulations to Sawyers Point Girl and the other half.

One of the fun things about owning an antique or classic boat is using it for unique events. I know three such boats that all participated in a wedding last October. This is not commercial charter, so you negotiate with the owner, no fee, but maybe donation to a charity. Almost any owner would be proud to do something like this and see some $$ going to a worthy cause. Of course, a private owner isn't at your beck and call for scheduling.

On shore, in Wolfeboro, I'd try to rent the Brewster Academy Boathouse. A little large for 10 people, maybe, but elegant. Some of the houses in Wolfeboro, Moultonboro, can also be rented.

Are you trying to do this for free, or just don't want to go commercial? We did a family wedding on the lake a few years ago. Most of the commercial places were booked several months in advance. That would eliminate a lot of choices if you're thinking 2014.

As previously noted the owners have decided to close the business effective for 2014. Hopefully there will be someone who fills this void.
We had the owner/captain of the Latitude 43 officiate but he has since passed away.

I had looked into permits etc to use Cate Park for the first ForumFest....but you don't really need a permit. It's a public park and you only have ten people. Just go for it!!......and congratulations!

What do you mean? Renewing by mail is old-fashioned and nostalgic. Renewing online is modern and unromantic.

Where you place the renewal sticker on your partner is also up to your own discretion.

My daughter was married on the Mount and the captain performed the ceremony. You can do their luncheon or I believe cater your own.
Lovely as you cruise the lake. We had about 80 people.

Friends of ours had their renewal ceremony on the Mount for their 50th wedding anniversary back in 2000. It was a very nice affair and their 10 children chartered the boat for a private cruise on Saturday night. They are about to celebrate their 64th anniversary this June!

I am a Justice of the Peace and live in Center Harbor. I performed a ceremony last year where the people rented a pontoon boat from the marina where I work and we went out on the lake and did the ceremony. I also travel whereever you want to do the ceremony. Please message me if you would like more information!
