We went for breakfast on Saturday and were sadly dissapointed by the 'closed' sign on the window and the 'coming soon' message on the signboard. Is this closed for good or changing hands or just out for vacation? Their FB page had a recent comment about 'sorry to see you go', but no other info. They put on a great breakfast...missing the toast already...
I have heard that they sold out and they have been trying to for sometime. Another restaurant is going in and they will not be serving breakfast just lunch and dinner. No date for the change has been heard by this writer.
Oh ya, the Ole Bay Diner is up for sale with 3 prospective buyers.:)

I was there for breakfast on 2/20 and sadly there were notices on each table stating that they were closing on 2/23 and the new owners were taking possession on the 25th. A big stack of mugs with the Main St. Café logo were on a table near the cash register, and we were all invited to take some as they couldn't be used by the new owners due to the name change. Another patron mentioned they had heard a family from Middleton were the new owners. A waitress said she had heard talk of only lunch and dinner being served and that the new owners were trying to get a liquor license. Sad news, as the selection of places for breakfast in Alton during the off season are getting slimmer. Even the Old Bay Diner was closed for 3 days during that week instead of only Tuesdays. That leaves MacDonald's or Dunkin Donuts as the only winter choices, especially if the diner goes away.

We do have our Monthly Breakfast Buffet on the 3rd Sunday each month, serving from 730-1100. Lodge is on Rte 28s just south of the Alton Circle. You see more info in the calendar section of this site.:)

You forgot our girl Donna who always has a nice smile for everyone. Wouldn't it be nice if the diner stayed with familiar faces.:)

Yes it is a dream come true. Shaun has worked for Buggaboo Creek for over 10 years working his way up from server to General Manager. For the past couple years he worked as a GM for a seafood restaurant called Al's Seafood. The restaurant will be called Ackerlys Grill and Galley and hope to open at the beginning of April. There will be seafood, steaks, burgers, sandwiches, salads, vegetarian options, some pasta, and more. The prices will be affordable and the food delicious. Thank you and hope to see you all soon! We will have a website and FB page soon.

So many people have been welcoming to us- I thought I should offer the same to you! We did eat at the former restaurant for breakfast a few times before it closed and it was great. Particularly impressed with the waitresses. I hope you give them every consideration for a job - they know everyone in town and would help you get off the ground. They had only good things to say about you buying the place. I hope to see them again
