heading up this weekend and not expecting conditions to be good. Although state reports claim best conditions in lakes region. additionally NOAA snow overage claims 6-8". is this all accurate? MMSC site was last updated 1/3.

Official Ossipee Club Trial Report

01/17/2014

While trails remain open for the weekend, we have been unable to groom since the warm up of last weekend. Trails are flat and icy, with some bare spots and minor flooding in low lying areas. As soon as we can (and the weather cooperates) we will resume our regular grooming schedule. If you choose to ride, expect early season or spring like conditions, depending on your elevation.

The unapproved minutes for the January meeting are now available for your perusal under our minutes section!

Believe it or not the Lakes Region does have the best snowmobiling conditions. The snow depth is pretty thin everywhere but there is decent riding if you keep an eye on the snow depth chart. Try the Bridgewater/Hebron/Plymouth trails. Don't go into Rumney cause the snow disappears as you ride north. We rode Ossipee today but it was just so so. Moultonboro has very little snow. Enjoy!

I just returned from a MLK day ride over Moultonborough Neck trails. They are in better condition than I expected. The snow is thin, so there are few moguls, but well covered. Also, there are quite a few water bars, some a bit gnarly, but all passable. It was also nice to see lots of tracks headed west over the lake from Far Echo Cove. I headed north, over the lake, to the Kona trails and returned via the Powerline trail. All in all - a very enjoyable ride.

Rode the rail trail (corridor 8) from Meredith all the way up to Plymouth then dubbed around Baker River trail system for a bit, it was remarkably good. Only a couple spots had to be careful of the exposed rails.

All the way up to the Ashland rail station was groomed, flat and mint, after that it was OK but not quite as nice, getting through Plymouth was slow going, just hard and bumpy. Once through town back to flat well groomed trails.

Just watch out for ice! Talked to some folks that had been riding the high country in Baker River and they said up there there was 6" of fresh powder on a very solid flat base.

Is the lake ride-able or is the snow too thin? Whats the prediction for snow/rain tomorrow night?

I have not looked at the lake in the past few days for snowmobiles. I will take a drive by, but I would think cover is thin with the wind etc. Watch those temp lights.

The forecast I saw on NECN a few minutes ago does not look good for us getting snow out of this one. :(
