As I drove by Gilford Yacht Club this morning, I was very surprised to see that it was completely iced in! While it will probably melt away this afternoon, it was still nice to see!!

Tonight's lows in the teens and tomorrow nights low possibly in the single digits, will only bring the water temp even lower... Could we have a December / early January "ice in"??

I'm more worried about what is happening Wednesday as that is a big travel day. If we get snow or an icy mix the roadways are going to be a mess.

How can this be? Ice in November??

Now, wait a minute. We were told by experts, some of whom even got international prizes with lots of money attached, that we were experiencing "global warming", and even saw pictures of palm trees that are soon going to be growing in New England :D

It's actually not uncommon at all. We typically see a skim coat in Gilford yacht club in early to mid November. It comes and goes and usually sets up in early December. They want all boats out of the inner marina typically by November 1. We move to the outer dock in Smith Cove for the month of November.

I recall that one year, actually my first as an islander, the channel going in to the marina between the outer dock and Resca's boat house froze in solid around the 10th of November. We had to break our way to open water which was a chore being that we were parked nose in, could not back out or drive over it to break out. It took a half day and 2 lost ice choppers (and one guy that fell in the drink) to get out. A few days later it melted and was open for a month!

It's "Climate Change" now my friend.. Remember,,, Climate Change, Not global warming. :)

Getting Hotter/Colder does not matter. It's man made climate change even when there is no change cause the climate going static is still a change.

There is a pretty good accumulation of ice on the shore at our place on Rattlesnake. The webcam shows it very nicely !

Berry Pond iced over halfway, then the wind took it yesterday.

Lily Pond in Gilford was completely iced over this morning. Outside temperature there at 8:00 A.M. was 14 degs.

Yesterday's wind was fierce and it took trees down all over the area. We lost power for 14 hours here in West Alton ... it came back on around 9:00 A.M. this morning. The NHEC crews worked all night and did a great job restoring power.
