Older boats have wooden bases for back to back seats and they rot/disintegrate over time. Where can the newer fibreglass/plastic/composite ones found in current boats be purchased to re-fit an older boat? I have looked for hours on dozens of supplier websites and found nothing. Contemplating going to George's Salvage to look, but I want nice looking ones. Any advice appreciated.

Not that they have them, but Unique Boat Restoration in Moultonborough, has given me excellent leads for a few items. Nice and helpful. Worth a shot!

Have you looked at overtons.com They seem to have quite a few boat seats.

you cab rebuild them yourself if you are looking for a project
just make sure you use marine grade plywood and stainless hardware/screws

Any barely competent woodworker could make a custom set in a short time. If I were making them, I'd use marine plywood, then encapsulate each base in one layer of fiberglass cloth and resin. They could then be painted or upholstered.

I purchased a set of these seats for a 14 Starcraft Falcon a few years ago. Good product, well made and a good value. :D

A year later I purchased on e-bay (to save a buck:rolleye2:) some other seats claiming to be a name brand for an 18' Four Winns. They had lousy bases that came apart  in some heavy chop and I had to repair them.

Lesson learned - buy from a company that is known for good products and customer service like Overtons or West Marine.
