We see smoke frequently across the lake near the Laconia airport. Anyone know it is? My first thought was brush or wood burning at the dump but I thought the state banned dump burning.

There's a camp on Lock Island that has a fire burning that smokes up every once in a while. Although that's down wind from the airport, depending on which way you are looking that could be it.

The angle from where I am suggests its toward the west end of the airport and behind Meadowbrook. Definitely not Lockes but thanks. The amount of smoke is a lot more than a typical camp fire.

Doesn't the Gilford FD have a training facility next to Lily Pond?

The fire on Lockes was pretty smokey, but agreed, it probably wasn't because the smoke would have been going the wrong direction.
And yes, they do have a training facility, ut that would be on the north end of the runway.

I can see the airport from my house and I see that same smoke. It's very close to the airport but I have no idea where or what it is.

The Gilford Brush Dump/Recycling Center collects brush and when weather permits burns the pile. They will also take wood that has not ben treated or painted (like pallets or construction waste) and put it in the burn pile. The dry wood helps them to get the green wood going when they burn the pile.
It is located on land surrounded by Laconia Airport (LCI) and most likely the source of the smoke. The burning of that brush pile is an allowed use.

Here's a shot of the smoke reported; taken from the Castle in the Clouds.
