Thought I'd create a generic topic for sunsets... They've been spectacular the past 2 nights...

This is the sun setting over the north end of Rattlesnake.

Beautiful! I watched tonight from Nineteenmile Bay. The sun was so red as it set, I thought it looked like Jupiter! Only had my iPhone with me though, the pics I got don't do it justice.

Taken from raw file of the picture.

Most if not all newer digital cams attache the info and can be extracted.

These are REAL nice photo's Good job.

The last 2 nights have featured a very hazy horizon that has made for beautiful sunsets. These were really easy to photograph since the sun was dim enough that there were no issues looking directly at it.

The 1st one was taken at the long end of a pretty decent telephoto lens (something you'd typically leave home if you're taking sunset pictures)

I'm embarrassed to admit the camera was on "automatic", with a sunset scene mode selected (which I suspect under exposed the picture a bit)

I have no clue what caused the very narrow and distinct cloud bands across the sun. They must have been quite close together in altitude.

Here is a link to the full rez image if anyone wants it

Here is the sunset from the exact same point on Monday. Interesting to note how far the sun has moved in a single day.

The sun always moves. Everyday it goes from east to west. Remember the sun rise and sun set

3 nights in a row... I wonder if there are fires somewhere that are causing the haze?

This summer I had fun using the panorama feature of my iPhone. Here's one I took of a sunset from near Weirs Beach:

Jazzman I love that first image, great capture. Here is one of mine from November of 2010. This was taken from the parking lot of O's restaurant here in Laconia. Taken with Canon 7D and Canon EF 17-40 f/4.0L lens at 40mm.

Wow too bad you didn't angle the wake so the sun was going down in the wake. I bet that would have sparkled off the bubbles.:D
