Just noticed that the Lake Temperature has hit 79 degrees. Thinking that this is a little warm for mid July. It will be interesting to see what the early August temps will be if we have another heat wave.

This is normal for this time in July. In past years, the lake usually reaches max temperature in the third/fourth week of July of about 80 and actually begins to cool off during August. By Labor day, it is usually back to 70.

In August, the daylight hours are shorter and the humidity lowers. Low humidity cools the lake quickly as it allows lots of evaporation

Hi Bill,
A couple things that will help keep your pool water temp down is to run your equipment at night and it will cool the water while out of direct sunlight, and make sure your pump motor is covered, ventilated during the day if you need to run it then as well. Also, my Sister bought an inexpensive tent to put over the shallow end of the pool. It is a large pool that holds about 45,000 gallons of water and even in the Texas heat the water temp stays at a refreshing 85 degrees.
I hope this helps y'all,
Terry

As I recall, the last time the surface water got up to 80-degreees was back in about 1998 or so. At the time, the water level was very much down by maybe 12-18" as compared to now. Usually, the highest water temp for the summer is at 78-degrees.

Thanks Terry. I do try and run the pump at night but its been so warm and humid that it hasn't done much. Evaporative cooling is what works great but not much of that happening with 73 degree dew points. I got home Friday to see the temp at 94. What? Thats right. Went to Sams Club and bought 160lbs ice and in it went. Dropped the temp 6 degrees. Back to normal temps now so before long I'll have the opposite problem.
I have to laugh about the Texas heat comment as I've been watching the temps down there and its been hotter here than most of Texas.
Sorry for the hijack.

Found while looking for lake temp threads.

Remember when some were complaining the lake was too warm? :D ;)

It appears that we are not actually too far behind where we need to be as far as normal lake temperatures. Hoping the weather over the next week or so will get us to a much better place. :)
