At sleepers sandbar, early today and in comes a (unnamed) fountain quickly followed by a center console which turned to some ridiculous yelling and screaming. The cc claiming that the fountain cut him off and 'nearly took him and his passenger out'. No way to know what really happened but the cc was maintaining he was cut off and it was real close.

It was pretty sad to see this behavior in front of the children there. The heated yelling went on for more than a few minutes on both sides, making everyone else uncomfortable.

It was unfortunate to see.

I saw a few interesting situations. But...
I also saw plenty of courteous, safe and friendly boating.

As I bob along in my 18' foot Sea Ray, my passengers ask me about what looks to them, like bedlam. I explain the rules, stand on, give way etc., they ask what I do if the other vessel doesn't follow the rules.

It's simple: Avoid the collision.

It seems like boat rage is routed in the mistaken idea that the "stand on" vessel is granted the "right of way". The "give way" vessel has responsibility to do just that...give way. When that doesn't happen the "stand on" vessel needs to take action to avoid a collision. This action doesn't include running down the errant boat and engaging in a cussing match.

In a p***ing contest, everyone gets wet.

It is very apparent that it is much too easy to use a boat on this lake, the rules are not enforced ,whether because of the sheer numbers of clueless drivers out there or lack of manpower. I wouldn't be surprised if a large number out in boats don't have boating certificates. They clearly don't even know the basics.
They seem to believe that because they have the money to use a boat they are entitled to be A*******'s.
