Waterfront dining

I will have been dating my girlfriend for a year in just a couple of weeks and I'm hoping to find a nice restaurant to take her to that is accessible by boat. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am located in the Alton/Gilford area if that makes any difference :)

Def give Shibley's a call.... they are right on the water in Alton Bay. Make reservation for outside deck, on the waters edge! Be specific, that you want to be on the water edge, otherwise you will be outside next to the restaurant, and while nice, isn't quite as nice!

Go by water to Wolfeboro. Wolfeboro Inn is good spot. Walking distance from docks. Nice boat ride as well.

The Wolfeboro Inn actually has their own dock at the bottom of the hill with a "Walk" up the hill to the Inn. . There is enough room for ONE 20 foot runabout. Nobody knows about it. Cardiac patients beware..:look: NB

The AKWA Marina Bar is the perfect spot! Great food and the perfect atmosphere for what your looking for!

Maybe not what your're thinking, but what about a ride on the Mount Washington - you can't get any more "on the water" than that. They serve food, and, albeit it isn't 5-star restaurant quality, it is what you want, when you want it, eat it anywhere on the boat you want, and it won't drain your bank account. On a great day you can't spend a nicer few hours having people cater to you. Check their schedule.

I also have to agree on the other suggestions.... The Lyons Den always has GREAT food, but parking the boat can be tight.

Akwa Marina is a GREAT spot.... and I hear the food is good (I haven't tried it yet, but the beer was def cold)

The Naswa is another option, you can order off of their upscale Blue Bistro menu and dine on the beach.... (the Blue Bistro food is GREAT)

Garwoods over in Wolfeboro has decent food and a small outside deck with a water view.

The Town Docks in Meredith is nice as well for outside casual dining.

and lets not forget the Margate is a great place as well to catch a beer and some apps...

You mention Gilford/Alton area and everybody shows you the map! LOL!

I can help you but you need to let me know how far you are willing to travel, by water, land or air. Also what kind of food are you looking for and besides lakefront dining what kind of atmosphere?

Go to a marina or shop store on the lake and pick up the latest 'Boater's Secret' guide. You should be able to find what you want.

My choice for the Alton /Gilford area for lake front dining? You have three choices: Shibley's on The Pier, Sandy Point restuarant and Lyon's Den.

Dining in the Lakes Region area is extremely competitive. I have seen a lot of bad and not so bad restaurants go. I have a list of 'not so bad' that are strictly tourists feeders. I won't bash them as they keep the summer crowd away from the good ones! LOL!

Have to make a shameless plug for the Red Hill Dari.Never mentioned as a boating destination but only a short walk from the Center Harbor town docks which usually has plenty of spaces.
Micki makes awesome onion rings and we use small whole belly clams from Maine or Canada depending on what's available.Also .....great 100% lobster rolls

I'd say "O" in lakeport is pretty good but definitely up there in price. I like the Lyon's Den too--park at the glendale docks and it's right there. Definitely make reservations, though!

No other option for what you are looking for, except the "shuttle" to Canoe.
Some others of the suggestions, while "kvitchy", aren't the quality you are looking for on the lake.

My wife and I have been to Garwood several times and although it's pricey, the food is always great. Plus you can't beat the "after dinner" atmosphere in Wolfboro. Walking around, shopping, town docks, ice cream, after dinner cocktails and a slooooooow boat ride back!!

^^This is true but you can always hit up Lyon's Den and then head over to the Weirs if you're looking to walk around afterward, being about 10 minutes from the Glendale docks to Weirs.

We went to Garwoods in Wolfeboro by boat. We had a great time, ate some great food, drank some great wine, and had a rainy boat ride home :emb: thanks again for all of your suggestions

You can go by boat or car, and sit in their "porch." We've always had a pretty good meal there. And skip the dessert; they usually bring some chocolate and "limoncello" on the house. :liplick:

If you want outside seating, Lago has tables and chairs outside on the lawn.
They serve the full menu. What better place to look down the bay, watch boat traffic,etc. We've gone there and tables were occupied. We have pulled two chairs with the wide arms together, lined up the arms so their level and sit in the front row. Had drinks, app's and entre's seating in those chairs. Very enjoyable. Been there a number of times. Personally, don't care if I have a table. Just something thats different and having dinner with my better half and enjoying the moments.
Beware, get there early.

We went back to the Lyon's Den after a long absence and we were not disappointed. We started off with the app special, of Escargot on a potato puff, Then we both had the evening special of duck and it was spectacular with the oven roasted red potato's and summer veg medley. I had a glass of cabernet sauvignon which was perfect and my wife had a delicious blueberry lemonaide cocktail. We concluded with Crème Brule. mmmm good. Service was excellent and attentive. The owner even stopped by our table to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. Then off to the Winnipesaukee Playhouse for the finish to a great evening.
