OMG....I saw Celia's posts on the other site and passed my prayers onto her, but I have not been on that site today. I am so saddened to hear this news. I know she was just so heartbroken when Bailey took sick. I am happy to hear she passed peacefully, but so heartbroken for Celia, Paul, thier family and for poor little Bailey. So, so sorry for this news.

Celia and Paul,

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Bailey's Bubble

August 25, 2010 - January 3, 2013

Our little girl was acting a bit subdued and was becoming more finicky about eating, so we took her to the vet on New Year's Eve day. The blood work showed that she was in severe liver failure - A complete shock. We brought her to Veterinary Emergency Center of Manchester where she spent four days receiving IVs and IV antibiotics to no avail. Each day found her getting worse and worse. None of the many doctors that treated her were able to come up with an answer as to why this happened to such a young and seemingly healthy dog. (This was not a poisoning.) She has always been on the fragile side and had allergies, but check out just fine at her last physical at the end of November. She was mostly well through December, but for an ear infection. We finally had to make the call and end our sweet girls suffering. Our dear sweet Bailey is now in doggie heaven with our boy, Mac (http://www.winnipesaukee.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13688&highlight=MacKinnon). She slipped away so tender and peaceful, which comforts us greatly. We will miss her always.

Bailey's first boat ride. Mac was 10 1/2 and Bailey was 8 months old.
She loved it!

Bailey's first ride on the PWC.
She and Mac seemed to have a great time. Jeff and I had fun too

Like many of our dogs, Bailey loved the boat!

Anywhere Mac was she wanted to be. He loved the boat too.

She loved our lot on Rattlesnake Island - Perfect for a Cairn Terrier.
She adored chasing chipmunks. They enjoyed teasing her by going in one hole and out another, watching her search from above.

Then we got Harry! A great way to spend a summer afternoon at the lake.

Our last leisurely cruise with our sweet baby girl.

This Christmas photo was taken two weeks before her passing.
Our hearts are heavy from this emotional and confusing loss.

I love you my sweet girl. Thank you for teaching Harry so many wonderful things. You will live on through him and forever in our hearts.

I like to imagine you in doggie heaven, playing with Mac and having a blast chasing ducks and laying in the summer sun by the lake.

Goodnight my angel, now it's time to sleep. You will always be a part of me.

Thank you my friends for your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. You are wonderful and they have meant the world to Paul and I.

Bailey's story of her sudden illness is heart breaking. It is so kind of you to share her story and post her pictures.
I have a friend whose terrier recently took ill, quite suddenly. He took her to two hospitals, multiple tests, etc. She was admitted to the ICU. One of the vets ran some tests and came to the conclusion that it was leptospiriosis, which can be transmitted to pets if they sniff the urine of an infected racoon. It was too late, though.
No matter the reason, it is still hard to understand.
May good memories comfort you.

For your continued support. We are still finding it very difficult to wrap our minds around the fact that we only had her for two years and two months. We are thankful to have had such a fine girl in our lives and wouldn't change a thing. It was a great relief that her illness was not contagious to our boy.

Harry is really missing his sister and seems to get nervous when I leave the house, watching from Bailey's old perch perch. Next week I plan to bring him for a half day of doggie daycare. A half blood sister will be in Harry's future, perhaps in the spring.

The following is the closest thing to a diagnosis that my vet can come up with:

Celia. I asked for the testing results, and unfortunately I don't think those can help us get to a final diagnosis either. As for the lepto panel, her titers were consistent with a vaccinated dog (which she was one month prior, so she would have reasonable titers to the serovars that were high normal). Her bile acids were very elevated, which only tells us that the liver was servely damaged, and not doing it's job. At this time, her diagnosis remains rather vague of acute hepatitis. I continue to suspect that this was a severe gall bladder infection/possilbe eventual rupture, unfortunately we will never know for certain. I'm gald to hear that you are willling to open your hearts to another dog when the time is right.

I know the feeling, we lost one of our Boxers at just shy of 5 years, and it was somewhat sudden as well. It really catches you off guard and takes a little time to set in. Hopefully you guys are doing OK.

Celia, I just saw this thread for the first time and my thoughts and sympathies go out to you & Paul! Having lost my golden last July...I know how devastating the loss of such a close friend and pal can be! It's been seven months and virtually a day can't pass without fond memories drifting into my head at some point. VERY sad news!!
