After nine wonderful years, this weekend marks The Winnipesaukee Playhouse's final weekend of performances at our theatre in Weirs Beach. While we are so excited for our spacious new accommodations in Meredith, we cannot be more grateful for the start we received at the Weirs. We started nine years ago as four newcomers to the area and were so welcomed and embraced by the local community.

While the new theatre in Meredith will allow us to continue to grow our programs, we have lots of amazing memories of past performances at the Weirs.

So I just wanted to say thank you so much to all our dedicated audience members, donors, supporters, sponsors and advertisers who helped us achieve so much.

If you have been an audience member, please check out our Facebook page as we have been counting down our final weeks with memories from the first nine years. Every day we are asking a different question about your favorite memories from our Weirs years. Please add yours!

Thank you for running a wonderful playhouse within walking distance of where our place is on the lake. You will be missed at the Weirs location, but we will join you in Meredith.

Good luck and 'break a leg'.

Coming June 2013 the new state of the art Winnipesaukee Playhouse will be opening in the old Anna Lee Doll factory in Meredith. The lobby is a complete renovation of an existing building while the connecting theater is all new construction and it looks like they are going top shelf on everything. The link below shows pictures of the project. Just one more reason to love Meredith.

I will miss having the Winnipesaukee Playhouse literally right down the street. However, their consistent high-quality performances kept drawing more people and a bigger facility makes good sense. This is a huge gain for Meredith and another loss for the Weirs.

I am very impressed by the construction photos on their web site. They are doing it right. Not at all a surprise to me.

Good luck Winni Playhouse in your new facility and with your current fund raising drive. You bring so much value to the whole area.

Thanks so much for the kind words. There were more than a few tears shed at our final Weirs performances last weekend. We broke with tradition and at the final performance came onstage for a speech during the curtain call to acknowledge the final performance and, since it was a youth and teen show, highlight a special teen who is graduating Inter-Lakes this year and is the only youth performer still with us from our very first youth show in 2004. Definitely the end of an era.

That said, we are so incredibly excited about the move to Meredith where we can really provide a top-notch facility to match the level of our productions (not to mention improved working conditions for our staff which we are super excited about!! No more seeing how many staff members can work out of an office the size of a closet!!).

A big plug to our project managers at Bonnette, Page and Stone. They have been wonderful to work with and we presently have no fears of the construction over-running. We can't wait to welcome you this Spring!!
