Not exactly Winnipesaukee related but I thought that someone might be able to help me out with this question. Tomorrow night my wife and I are going to see a Led Zeppelin tribute band play in Rochester (yes, I'm 62 on the outside but still only 18 on the inside). I'm not sure that I've ever been to Rochester before so can someone recommend a good place for us to eat before the show? Ideally, I'd like to find a place sorta like Wolfe's Tavern or Mame's.

check out Granite Steak and Grill (http://www.granitesteakandgrill.com/) right on Rt. 11. It's gotten good reviews previously on this forum.

Have fun and enjoy the Winni Forum while making many new friends. I’m sorry this is a tad bit late, but I trying to catch up on a few that I have missed. Have a ball at the Led Zeppelin tribute band show :)

My favorite place to eat in Rochester is the Governors Inn at 78 Wakefield Street.
They have dual restaurants; the Spaulding Steak & Ale which is open 7 days from 4pm and their new and very casual Garage restaurant which is open 6 days for lunch as well as dinner Thurs - Fri.

I took a look at the online menus for the two Rochester restaurants that were recommended in this post and I think that we'll go with "Granite Steak & Grill" tonight...thanks to all for your suggestions! BTW...in googling the same question I came across another interesting restaurant in Rochester...does anyone have any feedback on "The Chef's Table"? By its menu, it looks good also.

The Grill is a great choice and their sister restaurant the windjammer and if you like very good chinese than the china palace, but I would call the chef's table first before going, places change very fast in that neighborhood.

The "Granite Steak and Grille" is very good, and an additional bonus is that you do not have to know your way around in Rochester since it is on Rt 11 just before you cross the highway and start into Rochester proper - easy in, easy out.

Being in my back yard, Granite is good, and as another poster mentioned China Palace is great for chinese food.
If you care to go another 10-15 minutes south to Dover, there are a number of better restaurants with Cartelli's being my favorite. The Chop Shop, Blue Latitude's, Christophers 3rd Street Grille, and Kelly's Row are all good.
