I was up to the lake yesterday. Awesome day. But the color was not as expected. Seems like we have more color down here in southern Nh. What is the normal peak foliage time up there. Would like to take at least 1 more trip up before taking the boat out.

I noticed the same thing. I travel home to Waltham often and while driving home I noticed, it seemed, as soon as I crossed over the NH border in Nashua, the foliage popped. As I drove north, up Rte.106 to Laconia, it was as if I was heading south. The leaves were less and less colorful the further north I drove. Not sure if it's the topography, rain amounts or temperatures, but the southern lakes region looked more like Massachusetts. The southern NH colors seem uniform, while the Laconia area seems spotty. :rolleye2:

Been the dry weather we had all summer. Oaks have been losing their leaves all summer around here. I didn't think the leaves were that great even in the mountains this year. But it wasn't a totally bad year. Some areas have some good color right now.

We went up through the mountains on Wednesday around Waterville, Bartlett, Littleton Bethlehem, N. Conway and many other locations up there and the colors where the best we have seen in years and the weather being overcast skies with mist and showers most of the ride. At some points one could not see the tops of the mountains but we both agreed that it was a gorgeous ride even in that type of weather plus there wasn't a lot of traffic.:)

The Boss and I, along with my sister in law, took the grand loop up 93, past the Mount Washington Hotel, down thru North Conway and back to 93 via the Kancamagus from North Conway to Lincoln.
It was perfect weather and the traffic wasn't bad at all, except North Conway.
The colors were OK up around the Hotel, but much better all the way across the Kancamagus.
Few shots.. with the last two being a "duel" between me and my better half!
Lots of laughs and it was a really fun trip.

At my house in Bow, a few trees were at absolute peak on Friday. By the time I woke up this morning, those trees were nearly bare. It seems like fall came and went in a hurry, at least in my area. The oaks are still green, but turning yellow. Most of the maples are just about done. Definitely a strange year. We have 1 maple tree that was gorgeous on Friday. I cleaned up the leaves yesterday, and this morning had 2 full tarps of leaves on the ground.
