Out of business Chinese restaurant?

I know someone can help me with this - there was a Chinese restaurant that went out of business some years back, which I thought was located somewhere between Weirs and Meredith, but now I am not sure.

The far wall of the dining room was comprised of large glass windows, and you looked out over a field while you ate (maybe 20-30 feet off ground level). It was a good sized place, I want to say it was red with a couple of stone lions (or the like) out front.

I thought I saw construction going on there a couple years ago, so maybe it's something else now. It's just killing me not to remember where it is and what it was called.

I believe it was called Jade Island...I remember the radio commericial {Hi this is Juan I would like to see you at Jade Island tonight.}

There is a boat dock and snowmobile trailer store there now.

That burnt down years ago. Production trailer and dock is there now, call maybe they still deliver

Yep its now a dock and swim platform place Just to show i'm old before it was a chinese restaurant it was a restaurant called the Wakatitina or something like that . It used to have a great buffet but that was back in the 60's . :eek:

Ah, the memories! Years ago, my Uncle's phone # was one digit off form Jade Island's. He used to take orders! Bwahahahahahaha

Her name was Quan King. She would great you at the door dressed in old style oriental dress. Boy do I miss that place! More the booze than the food..Lol!

Jade Island had GREAT food, and was a happenin place in the 80's.:)

I believe that Jade Island was owned by the King family. They were also the owners of the King's Chinese restaurant across from Wyatt park in south end of Laconia. Also I think they owned a large and opulent restaurant in Hookset. I don't recall the name of that one or what became of the King's.

I believe it was called The China Dragon.

When I first went to college in Manchester, we used to go to the Kahula Palace in Hooksett all the time (no I.D's required) :coolsm: Then that place burned to the ground.

A year or so later, another one opened in Hooksett, but for the life of me can't remember the name of it. It was directly across from McDonalds.

Back in the 70's it was the hottest place to go for those in Concord and Manchester and towns in between. The Hooksett cops use to hang out right across the street. I would alternate between the Outer Limits in Tilton, Music Hall in Concord and the China Dragon. Yes the China Dragon was owned by the King family from Laconia.

I think you might be right. A bunch of us college students were there inhaling scorpion bowls on the night the opened. A dangerous place for a college kid!
