So for past several weeks the neighbors and I have noticed a bad skunk smell at varying times. Sometimes it is near the neighbors houses, next it is near mine. Well yesterday I came home to mow the lawn. As I was standing there this skunk starts walking toward me. I stopped the mower, grabbed the hose and started to spray it. Didn't even phase it. Just kept walking toward me.
Today I come home and it is laying there teets up on my lawn, stinking to high heaven. Of course my wife leaves the windows open in the house all day while she was gone and now everything in the house smells like skunk.:rolleye2: I used a whole can of Oust, and no luck. Still stinks to high heaven. So I call Fish and Game and they just told me to bury it in the back yard. They only test if someone gets bit or if the rabies gets to a high level in the area.
So off to dig a final resting place for the poor deceased Skunk. RIP stinky!

The skunk "Just kept walking toward me". This is like a mystery story with no ending. What happened after the skunk kept walking toward you?

I know he finally ended up dead on your lawn the next day, but it would be nice to know if the skunk let you finish mowing the lawn. :D

Report the whole story to F&G or local animal control. They will retrieve it for testing.

Until then, cover it with an old tote or trash can.

Kamper...Nope. Didn't want to test it unless it bit someone...

It is buried now but the smell still lingers. Probably will unless we get a good couple days of rain to help wash it away.
