View Full Version : NHMP has K9 Unit?
I just happened to look at the Anchor marine cam and saw this picture. It looks like a NH marine patrol boat docked and a NHMP officer with a dog.
What would the NHMP need with a dog?

NHMP is a div of the state police now so they are State Police officers.... This means since the State police have K9 Units, NHMP are used to assist K9 units near the water and vis versa. They are 1 and the same. Dogs are used for a variety of things from Finding Drugs and Narcotics to finding fleeing suspects

Dogs' noses are so good, they can find things under water! :eek2:

I was check by NHF&G last year on the lake and he had a chocolate lab on board. I asked "is he 'on the job'?" and the CO said "yes". He said the dog can pick up narcotics downwind of a boat from about 20 yards so he just pulls up to boats when checking from downwind and immediately knows of anything is onboard.
I would guess that Marine Patrol is using the same capability. Not to mention that should the MP officer have trouble with a resisting boating, that shepard is there for him. Behave yourself and having these dogs on the MP boats should be no concern. I would expect if Mitt gets the Presidency, you might see more of these and more aggressive checking on the lake.

In speaking with Marine Patrol last week he stated the dogs are for catfishing;)

I would feel better knowing the guy steaming towards me is not smoking a joint nor guzzeling a beer.

Perfectly legal for the guy steaming towards you to be guzzeling a beer and in some cases smoking that joint.

I never said it was illegal to have a beer, I simply stated that I would feel better knowing the approaching driver was not drinking a beer. And I would.
I believe the beer should come out after the cover goes on, at least for the driver of the boat.
One beer would not affect 95% of the drivers. I get concerned when one beer turns to two, turns to six.
