I just called to get a tuner box for my monitor here at work. we have Metrocast.
They told me they charge $15.90 per month for the set top box. Is that correct? $15.90 per MONTH? Holy ship! That can;t be right. What a rip off.
I spend over a thousand dollars a month with them here at work. and I can't get one free tuner box? Time to get DirecTv here I guess. :rolleye2::(

Not sure what you mean by a tuner box.
The metrocast rental rates here are:
digital converter $6.95
HDTV converter $11.95
HDTV converter/DVR $16.95
and most any basic TV should be able to tune in most channels with any rented box. We have one HDTV/DVR for the main TV set so programs can be recorded. Other basic analog TVs are just hooked to cable and use their built in tuners.

If you have the above service and a QAM tuner. You don't need to rent.

Business service is more than home service. Looks like an HD tuner is about $21. Digital is 10.50. Per the Metrocast website.
they also make deals with their customers depending on services and amount of money spent.

There is no easy answer.
Direct TV and Dish require usually a 2 year contract. May or may not provide dish for free.
Then if you have HD that is one extra price.
If you want HD and DVR that is another price.
With Direct TV you can have one account and use that one account with two different homes. One has to be shut off and the other turned on. And back and forth.
Some folks on a budget get one receiver and take it with them between homes.
Both homes obviously require a dish on roof, side wall, or ground.

Thanks, but I know about DirecTv. I've been a customer of theirs since they started in business. I'm just stunned that I can spend a thousand dollars a month with Metrocast and they are gonna try to charge me $15.90 for a box.
BTW, my TV is just a huge monitor. No tuner built in, so I need the cable to run through something that has a tuner. This whole thing started because I was using a VCR with a tuner in it. But I dropped the VCR and it broke. No more video coming out of the VCR. When I plug a DVD player into it works fine.
So I am looking for a tuner. I wound up ordering one from Amazon for $38.00.
