Hoping that someone on the forum has any wakeboarding experience. We have a mastercraft and are looking to wakeboard this upcoming summer. Do you need a certain extension to your regular ski pylon to wakeboard? How hard is it to wakeboard?

You should be fine here, and just tweek to your boarding skills as you go.

Welcome! :)

Getting an extension for your ski pylon is optional.

The main benefits of having a higher pylon would be:

1) Slightly easier to get up on a wakeboard. (more of an upward pull lifting the wakeboarder out of the water)

2) Longer "hang time" in the air.

3) Boat will stay on plane better.

Wakeboarding is a very fun sport and it is not difficult. :)

Have fun!

I have gone over to the dark side and now board more than ski. 1 day of trial and error and you will be riding with no problem. When getting up have the driver go nice and slow and steadily bring the speed up to 18-20MPH. No quick starts like on ski(s).

The biggest key is to find some nice quite water to get the hang of it. I would get a wetsuit and get started early in the season or try and get out a few early mornings on weekdays. Send me a PM if you want more info. Good luck.
