Hello,
We read an article (Weir's Time), last year, that was about a very large rock in a town close by to Lake Winni. It showed a picture where people were standing right in front and it appeared to be about 3x their height and maybe 40 feet wide.
We thought is was called Mason's Rock, but haven't been able to find information on it. We are looking to take our kids out there
Does anyone know of such a rock?

Sorry I don't have more info.

When we were kids, we could climb up on it. You can't now.

That rock is almost as big as "Frankenrock" in Buzzell Cove

We saw an article in one of the local papers last year about the Madison Boulder. We were fascinated and visited last autumn. Definitely worth it. Although the road is relatively well marked, if you have young children, expect a lot of " are we there yet?" It isn't right around the corner.

How far is it from say Meredith area?

I would say around an hour. It is worth the trip though. It is just a big rock, but kids are fascinated by it.

It looks small in this shot. The closer you get the more impressive it gets.

From WMUR web site

CONCORD, N.H. -

A huge granite boulder in New Hampshire that was declared a National Natural Landmark more than 40 years ago has received some money for a face-lift.

The Madison Boulder Natural Area near the Maine state line is home to the largest-known glacial "erratic" rock in New England. It was transported during the last ice age over hills and mountains before breaking off. The rock is 83 feet long, 23 feet high, 37 feet wide - and weighs about 5,000 tons.

Residents have been worrying about a neglected access road and graffiti on the boulder.

Fundraising efforts and a National Park Foundation grant have produced about $7,000, with plans to seek at least several thousand dollars more. Residents also want to install kiosks explaining the boulder's history.

Nice description. I was so hoping it said something at the end like "Please Don't Move It".
