Hi Everyone!

I wanted to share our new menu with all of our Winnipesaukee friends.

For those of you not familiar with us, Kara's Cafe and Cakery is located at 48 Main Street in Meredith. We serve breakfast, lunch, specialty coffee and sweet treats. Special occasion cakes, dessert platters and breakfast and lunch catering is available. Our focus is on local, organic products and serving delicious food that is unique. We have been in business one year now and so far a tremendous amount of support within the community.

My husband Carlos and I relocated to Meredith from NYC after residing there for ten years. I was born and raised in Meredith and have returned to this beautiful place to now raise my two year old son, Xavier. I have a masters degree in Pastry Arts from The French Culinary Institute, New York City. My previous employment prior to opening Kara's Cafe was Director of Operations for Buttercup Bake Shop, (sister store to the famous Magnolia Bakery), selling an average of 1500 cupcakes per day, amongst other baked goods.
Carlos has a strong background in front of the house fine dining in some of NYC's top restaurants. He defiantly makes the best cappuccino I've ever had!

Over the past year we have greatly enjoyed being involved in the community. I joined Altrusa of Meredith recently and have had a great time working with some amazing women raising money for numerous causes. Most of our employees are students who are pursuing culinary arts degrees and former students of the Laconia Huot Tech program that Carlos and I support and sit on their advisory board.

We look forward to welcoming you to our cafe and know that you will not be disappointed! We are now serving Gluten free baked goods and bread.

Cheers,

Kara

Best of luck to you, Kara. Tell us more about your cakes. Do you have cakes on display in your cafe? We used to go to Conway, a good drive from Wolfeboro, to Riverstone Bakery for cakes for special occasions. They closed not too long ago and are terribly missed. Walking into their shop was the closest I've seen up here to a New York City pastry shop. It was outstanding and worth the drive. I've been looking for a replacement, and the drive to Meredith would be well worth it if I found a product comparable to Riverstone.

Just curious...I'll stop by anyway for sure...but...cannolis?

Glad you posted this. I didn't know you were there, and your establishment sounds like it would be right up my alley. Thank you!

Yes, please do tell us more about your pastries -- the online menu lists only meal items. I realize you probably don't offer the exact same pastries every day, but it would be nice to get a better idea of the kinds of things you have and, also, to know whether they can be ordered in advance.

The catering menu will be posted soon which has our cake and dessert menu included.

Cannolis are available! In store can be purchased individually or by the 1/2 dozen when placing an advanced order. I've heard a few say they are the best they've ever had so I hope you give them a try! Not too sweet and made with real vanilla bean.

I do not have cakes on display in the store but will have a photo album out very soon. I do fairly simple cakes- pretty and delicious!

Thanks for the warm welcome and great responses!
