I have seen a good number of loons already this year myself. Including several pairs that I hope are together for breeding. I think slowly the loon population is growing.

Also I will not that last year I watch several chick mature.... which once again is another good sign.

Wadden, we saw four together yesterday and that is very unusual. Our two usually keep the rest out. Wonder what is going on? Hope they are not trying to tell us fall is coming and they are gathering!!

I think there were 4 chicks on Winni last year.

Tis, we had one chick in our cove last year. Sure seems like the loon population is growing - hope so!

I saw the one in Robert's Cove and the one off Cow Is. I can't remember where the other two were. Do you?

There are loons sitting on two different nests near Moultonborough Bay. Hopefully we'll have chicks in a month or so.

We have a pair that seem to have taken up residence near us in Moultonborough as well. Does anyone know how loons and Canada geese get along? We seem to have a pair of those as well. (They've been yucking up the neighbor's yard!)

I saw five loons together in front of the Cattle Landing last weekend and thought that was amazing. But seven? Wow!

That's right. I think the fourth was on the other side of the lake? What do you mean by on their third try? In one year? Or was this the third year?

On the third attempt last summer the loons had a chick.

This loon chick hatched yesterday on a lake in MN. Egg #2 may be in the process of hatching.

Today's Manchester Union Leader article (see link below) indicates that loon nests may be threatened by lake's high water levels.

We participate in the loon count here in the northern portion of the lake and last year I think we counted 14 or 15
