I bet there are a few people on the lake that can afford this. How many do you think we will see this summer

For about the same money you can purchase this from the military that is currently being auctioned off. Cost to build $195M, current high bidder: $100K:

I'd prefer to go this route. Oh wait..you need a Pilots License. BUT: You can actually go somewhere with this. The age is irrelevant. The FAA makes sure the maintenance is Done...wether the plane is ever flown or not. :D

This particular plane has 220 HP. :) The ordinary older C172 has 160 or less likely 180 HP. This one also comes with wheeled landing gear (probably tailwheel) to swap out when the lake freezes and you need to land on the ice..or an airport.

BTW: That Hovercraft actually has "Clipped" wings. It CAN FLY..BUT not out of Ground Effect which is as stated.. about 20 feet above ground/water. NB

PS: "Ground Effect": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ground_effect_(aircraft)

Except for the fact that they are completely dismantling and destroying it at time of sale. That $100k bid is for scrap metal value only.
