What is going on at the Wolfeboro town docks? There is a portable dish in the parking lot?

That's a satellite uplink truck. The kind used by TV stations. They must be covering the First Night event in Wolfeboro. Isn't it the only First Night celebration in New Hampshire?

They may be at the docks because it's a good spot to hit a bird.

Island Girl,

I are not alone in your curiousity. I noticed the same thing last evening while checking the cam. Wish I had an answer for you.

You are all correct. The truck was the WMUR uplink truck and it was positioned early at the Town Docks to avoid the crowds. It was also the best plact to film the fireworks originating from Brewster Beach area. I think Wolfeboro is the only remaining continuously operating First Night in the State. This says volumes about the group of organizers of our First Night, and I want everyone to extend to them a huge THANK YOU. Happy New Year.

Wolfeboro did a fine job with First Night. It was very well attended despite a few rain drops. They ran cables from the uplink truck out to Main Street and were interviewing people in the crowd out there. I expected more of a story on the WMUR web page but this is all they came up with. How do you improve on the Wolfeboro’s Chamber of Commerce (http://wolfeboro.com/firstnight/) information?

Some links within their site:

Schedule of Events (http://wolfeboro.com/firstnight/events.html)

Performers (http://wolfeboro.com/firstnight/performers.html)

… and let us not forget that a First Night® Wolfeboro button was your admission to all venues (http://wolfeboro.com/firstnight/buttons.html).

I attended the Wolfboro's First Night for the first time. It was well organized and the venues were talented and fun! I would come next year. :coolsm:

The Grunter has a new web site. There is an article on First Night, with photos, however, the site does not provide a link to individual stories so you'll have to search the site for it. Click on "News"
