What a difference a week makes... The Broads looked like the ocean, and boy was it cold in the wind.
All along the waterfront at Lake Shore Park, the wind was piling up waves I haven't seen in a long. Lots of the shore front plants are all iced over. Amazing!
Almost looked like the wave action from Irene.

Yesterday morning there was some big white caps rolling southbound through the Bear Isl-Cattle Landing passage there....had to get out of the car and go take a look-see down the end of the new Cattle Landing town dock. That thing is a $125,000 floating concrete dock in two large sections, and the outer section was rolling up & down pretty good, maybe one foot up & down, which is a lot. Plus, the dock was rolling side to side too, and the spray had everything soaked. That new dock is actually pretty decent looking now with the white trim pieces like the conical caps for the three large posts that hold it all in place......not really an eyesore anymore as was mentioned in another thread.

Decided to check out the lake again this AM.. few more shots.
Played around with speeds and aperture.
The Northwest wind was brutal right around sunrise

AWESOME pictures. Thank you for posting them.
Power went out around 2pm yesterday. As of around 5-6pm, the spray started freezing on the boat. Bilge pump replacement was needed as it failed. New pump kept going all night. Yep, crazy winds!

It was pretty wild.
I am sure a few people can pin point exactly where this was shot.

I use a Canon T3.. most of the pics lately are shot with a Canon EF 70-300mm F/ 4- 5.6 IS USM lens, tho I also use a Canon EFS 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS lens.
I try to stay in the 100 or 200 ISO range, and depending on the the available natural light, I to keep my shutter speeds as high as possible. Lots of it is based on "Trial and Error" :rolleye1: and shooting 100's of pictures with all sorts of settings.
I learn more from my mistakes than I learn from the good ones!
Most common for "good" light, settings are usually like this:

Hope that answers your question... ( I'm always afraid that someone asks me "what time is it" and I end up trying to tell him how to build a watch.:laugh::laugh:)

It's been nothing but windy lately! I've wanted to use my Kayak, but the water is always too choppy, and I'm afraid of getting swamped. What's with all the wind lately? It's been windy all week this week, it was all last week too. On calm days, it's been too cold to go out.

A year of weather extremes...
While we waited for Ice-out, there was hardly a hint of a breeze for 2 weeks. Now we're looking at almost 2 weeks of non-stop, howling winds
