My lawn is being attacked by some type of critters. Looks like about a dozen tunnel paths all over a section of lawn. Random tunnel paths in all directions.

Not that it matters, but that section of lawn happens to have a great deal of moss. The rest of the lawn so far has not seen any damage.

Could these tunnels be created by moles, voles, or something else ? Tunnels look to small to be created by a gopher.

Your comments appreciated and also how to treat the situation !

Thanks,

BD

Used to happen to different sections of our lawn each winter, some worse than others depending on the snow cover.

Yes, moles or similar critters looking for food under the snow. The small trenches will fill in quickly and once your grass is back they will be gone. Unless you have a real grub or other insect problem.

It is moles - my guess.

I have had investation before. This has been posted before. Many different ideas as to what is the best solution.
Chemicals.
Traps.

I have tried almost everything. Even powered ground up hot red pepper. I tried a pick/pointed shovel. Got one that way. But a very long process.

Good luck and let all know what you find as a success.

several years in a row, until last year when the grubs that I thought I was killing practically destroyed my yard. I'm guessing the moles have found a plentiful food supply in your turf. In a moment of environmental unconsciousness, I took the fight to the grubs last fall and I think I won. No mole trails this year.

Yup, they are usually after the grubs. Killing them generally stops this problem except if like me, you didn't put down the grub killer last fall like I was supposed to.

What is safe to use near the Lake? And when is it applied?

Thanks...
