View Full Version : A December Morning
Here's a view of Cub Island from Echo Shores in West Alton, taken this morning at about 7:50 am. The temperature was 11 degs, and you can see the fog rising off the water. The east end of Sleepers is also visible, and Rattlesnake is in the background. The sun was just beginning to hit the water when this shot was taken.

Thanks for the photo.
Having lived in New England all my life, I really enjoy the change of the seasons. I am sure many of the posters do not get to see some of the beautiful natural images of seasonal change we observe at this time of year. When the tempature of the air and the tempature of the water are so different and the wind is rather calm, it is often a great sight. Thans for sharing it with us.
Great job and Happy Holidays!

Oh, Don. Simply beautiful. I just love those kinds of mornings, and I'm so glad you posted that photo.
I've noticed that the ice is beginning to form all along the edges of Paugus Bay - particularly visible in the Langley Cove area. It won't be long now! Bring on the ice and snow!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Here's Alton Bay with ice on it out to Sandy Point. Had a snow squall come through and gave the good contrast. top picture is from the community center looking out towards Sandy Point and the bottom one is from the cove just below Sandy point restaurant looking back to the end of the bay. Winter is upon us!!!!!

Thanks for the 2 great shots of my favorite place to be. The 2nd shot was taken just above our cottage. Wish I were there to enjoy the view myself. Only 9 weeks to go! By then I hope there is more snow on the ground and lot more ice on the lake. Have a great Christmas, and keep the pictures coming -- they make me less homesick.

It's beginning to look alot like Christmas...
Soon the ice fishermen will be out there in their little houses, snowmobiles will be wizzing up and down the lake and the planes will be landing.
I hope it snows down here in NJ for Christmas. Have a Merry and a Happy! :)

A gaggle of geese just off the beach at Sandy Point, taken on 12-17-04. A snow squall had just come through and it was quite windy and the gaggle/group/herd/pod/bunch were all pretty much sitting there facing into the wind waiting for takeoff instructions for warmer climes.
Here's another "morning" shot, taken today (Sat. 12/18) at 7:45 am. The air temp. was 7 degrees and the fog from the water was surrounding Moose Island.

Lakeport outflow temp today is 37 degrees. With temps going down to the single numbers, we should see the ice continue to build in the bays. Won't be long for the lake to get covered. and great picture Don. You certainly have a great venue for lake pictures.
