After many many years of renting properties for the summer in Meredith and Moultonboro, this year we've found a beautiful waterfront rental in Melvin Village. We've been through Melvin Village on trips to Wolfboro but have never spent any time in that area. Any members of the Forum have suggestions as to where to shop for groceries, Wolfboro or Center Harbor, and any special things we should know about the area? This area will be a totally new adventure for us. Thanks for any help offered.

I don't live in Melvin Village, but my feeling is that many people shop in Wolfeboro, and do other business there, too. On a good day you can do the trip by boat. If Pier 19 is open next summer you could shop there.

Melvin Village is pleasantly located so you could shop in either direction. When you come for the season you can experiment until you find what you like.

I live in Melvin Village. Grocery shopping closest is Center Harbor or Wolfeboro. Closest cheaper grocery store is Hannaford in Ossipee. No Market Baskets within an hour of us!

my buddy in Melvin says he does most of his shopping at Hannifords in Ossipee. If he needs additional groceries during the week, he'll hit more local markets in Wolfboro or Center Harbor depending on what he is doing that week.

I love Melivin, its one of the more quiet areas on the lake due to distance from I-93 and lack of service industry in that corner of the lake. Melvin Bay is also a wonderful respit from busier parts of the lake in the summer.
