Dock Circulator Fan Water Ice

Anyone know where to purchase a replacement fan for this Franklin Electric Motor dock/water circulator? White plastic fan blade needs replacement. Thank you.

I believe E M Heath TrueValue Hardware in Center Harbor sells replacement props that look very similar to yours.
You can also order replacement props from this company. 2 white props for a 1/2hp are $27

I have two similiar circulators with props that secure differently.

One prop mounts to the shaft with a screw through the center of the prop. If this is the case, Winnipesaukee Marine in Gilford sells them. I would also purchase a stainless steel screw. It will make removing it next time much easier.

The other has a set screw on the side of the prop. Watermark has this type.

In any event, remove the prop and take it with you.

Do you have a bore(shaft) and blade diameter?My favorite parts bible McMaster Carr has 3 blade aluminum props with 2 stainless set screws starting at $15 for a 4 inch.

Heaths had one propeller. Too big. CH Dock and Pier had the right size blade but wrong inside diameter and secured with a set screw.

The one in picture is secured to a Franklin electric motor with a cotter pin (two holes).

That clamp on the motor looks like it's having a rust/corrosion problem...maybe due to electrolysis...stray electricity.... NB

Fred Cain in Wolfeboro sells them too. I have the exact same motor and prop setup. The motor is a simple well pump motor with a splined shaft. The prop has a small set screw to hold the prop in place.

Mine were getting all rusted out so I just built a few made out of PVC piping. Going to see if it works out this winter. Heck. I thought it was worth a shot before having to weld more up.

Lakesrider: Did you fill it with sand to keep it on the bottom. I'm just wondering if it will float. :look: That would be a bummer.

I've seen tandem axle Aluminum boat trailers actually float without the weight of the boat on it, due to the buoyancy of the tires. NB

-if theres anywhere to get one online that decent priced?
-did anybody find where to get a metal one?

im located in new durham, so anywhere near there or alton would work for me. internet is good too. id prefer to get a metal one so i dont need to deal with it again.

As the pictures above show it appears that most of these are hand made with a purchased motor.

The only blade I found that could possibly fit was a standard size blade but I had to modify my motor for it to fit correctly. All works fine now.

Most dock/marine supply stores have blades. Getting one to fit yours may or may not be easy.

I have not seen a metal one.

Others can chime in.

I guess just travel from place to place seeking the blade you want. Get to the right retailer and they may have catalogs and order what you have.

Is your setup a homemade looking one as above, or a branded one such as a Kasco?

I have 2 Kasco's with plastic blades, I have been using them for the last 6 years and have not lost one yet. I do keep 2 spares on hand just in case.

results of the day.....

my local baert marine didnt have it and could order a plastic one for 45 bucks.... psssshhht

heaths hardware is much further from me than watermark (im in new durham). they said they are 23 for plastic and 49 for aluminum. i wanted to get aluminum, but for 50 bucks i think id just get plastic, or maybe 2 plastics.

but anyways, it looks as if my problem is solved, or will be solved, unless anybody has anywhere closer/cheaper

I am so glad I have a seasonal dock....

mine pulls out, but after dealing with the boat lift for a few years in freezing cold water (fall and spring), and our steep landscape, we decided the pump was easier

How about the plastic prop off that electric trolling motor that you're not going to use during the winter.. Maybe they are plastic for the same reason as mentioned above. :look: NB

hey guys, got the fan at watermark in gilford. great store and great help. installed it and had to break the 2 inches of ice to get it in the water. all is well now.

and by the way the guy said that he doesnt recommend the aluminum prop because if something gets caught it will burn your motor out instead of just break your prop. he also said its better to leave the motor in all summer because once the seal in there gets wet its better for it to stay wet because if it goes, the inside of the motor gets wet and gets ruined. and also, it was 23 bucks.
