Can anyone tell me how bad the winds were yesterday on the lake??

We were not able to make it up this weekend and apparently my swim raft let go. My neighbor found it on his waterfront this morning and secured it for me. I know how well it was anchored so I am just curios how rough it got yesterday...

Thanks!

You can see yesterdy's Welch Island Cove chart at:

Looks like the peak was about 11pm, around 30 mph from the west. We may make it over tomorrow but could not over the weekend.

About 1:30 a.m. Saturday morning we experienced incredible gusts of wind that lasted for approximately 10 minutes or so. It took down several trees, one of which glanced the cottage, and scared us pretty badly. Rain was going horizontal from south to north. It sounded like a train coming through.

We are located on Weirs Boulevard in Laconia a short distance from Rich Haven cottages. It was very local wind gusts to our area from the debris we saw in the area the next morning. A possible wind shear???

Very, very scary. I thought the cottage was coming down! If anyone else in that area experienced this, please post what you saw and heard. We'll never forget it!

Same thing, same time in Alton up on the mountain of the lake. Kept me awake for a short time, but we didn't have any damage nor did it look as if it was as bad as it sounded.:)

Yes, very windy Saturday afternoon.
We are usually well protected in the cove on the south end of Bear, however the winds were blowing from the southwest, easily 25-30mph winds most of the day.

Its time to pull that raft out Dan :D

I woke up around 1 or 1:30 am Saturday at Jonathan's Landing to what sounded like a freight train too, Water Camper, and I thought for sure I was in a tornado - there was also horizontal rain - then all of a sudden it died down to a normal gusty wind that I'm used to. Didn't know if it were suddenly a change of warm/cold fronts or whatever. Expected to see a lot of damage but there wasn't any in JL or on Long Island Road or the Moultonborough Neck Road.

Thanks JL Girl and all others who posted replys to my question about hearing/witnessing that storm. We thought possible tornado too it as was so intense. I drove the Boulevard the next morning and the only limbs, branches, sticks, etc. down on the road were at our driveway and toward the south for a very short distance, nothing to the north heading toward the Weirs. It will be a fall night I'll remember for a long time for sure!

We are located in the same area, and yes that was very scarey, woke up to it, Freinds staying with us said it sounded like the roof was coming off. and we woke to enough debris and leaves on the ground that is looked like the end of fall when all the leaves were down. Yesterday was also very windy, difference was not so hard, but Yesterday was more constant

Dan is no dummy, he got his neighbors (and a wind assist) to do it for him!
