28,000 tickets is not enough to finance the Indy cars! WOW! Read on. The did mention the weather and the economy may be a part of the blame.

It's too bad. They looked pretty good out there. They were turning laps about 20 or so, MPH faster than the Cup cars. I doubt the fiasco at the end of the race helped in their decision. They tried to restart the race, after a late caution for a rain shower. The track was still damp which caused a big wreck. They waved the green flag and as soon as the they hit the throttle Danica Patrick spun her tires and spun into the driver to her side causing the accident which took out most of the racers from 3rd to 7th.

LAS VEGAS

Indianapolis 500 winner Dan Wheldon died Sunday at Las Vegas Motor Speedway after his car became ensnarled in a fiery 15-car pileup, flew over another vehicle and landed in a catch fence just outside turn 2.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

When Indy first came to NH even before Nascar, I went to watch. I always attend through a few friends that have RV's that overlook the track. That race you were allowed to walk down the embankment right up to the fence no more than 5 feet from the track. Extremely exhilerating being that close but I remember thinking that this is a very dangerous place to be. More so than the cup cars because of the open wheel setup. Those open wheel cars showed yesterday how easy they can be launched. Very sad.:emb:
