Spotted two ladies looking upwards into the trees on Paugus Bay today. They were watching this rain soaked eagle who was being mobbed by two crows. Taken from the parking lot of the Birch Knoll Motel.

Too bad it was such overcast conditions.

If any of you followed the bald eagles nesting out in Iowa this past spring into the summer will notice that this bird is a female and a wet one as stated. We have a male come to our lake at least once aweek and take out big mouth bass right in front of our house. It's fantastic sight.:)

That was a great site. I watched them grow, from the time they were eggs until they flew away.

I think you are right, it is a female, based on the terrific video on the Decorah eagle site. That site was/is wonderful... and terribly addictive. What a magnificent bird. We have two adults and two juveniles near us on Poplar Island ... such a treat to watch.

http://i52.tinypic.com/2s8k8lh.gif you having the juveniles to be able to watch. Did you know they do not pair up until they are 3 to 4 years old??? I have hundreds of photos I took from the laying of the eggs until they flew off at Decorah. I love hearing the trucks coming to the stop sign and the guy going out to mow his lawn and when they did the close up of the horse coming out of the barn.http://i39.tinypic.com/15firux.gif
