Or, closer to home, some video I took up in Plymouth, NH from the Pemi River flooding.
Amazing is the power of water.
(SIDE NOTE: At this time, the water had receded quite a bit from the night before)

Actually that flooding in Plymouth is fairly common, especially on the appropriately named Water street. Usually occurs more with the spring snow melt though. One year when I attended PSC the bridge shown in the video had a huge ice dam up against it with water over the bridge. They blasted it with dynamite. Lots of fun for a college student to watch with a sixpack.
Yeah last year the ice flow was a problem again. It completely flooded the parking lot near the ice arena, and then froze (that was a problem). I think they eventually added a heavy plow to a front loader and got the ice out of the lot.
I think every year I've been here there's been SOME flood warning or another. This one took the cake by recent standards.

Saw a bridge standing in a river bed yesterday in western Mass. No land around it any longer. Just the concrete bridge 12 feet above the river bed. We got lucky.
